The Telit Evaluation Kit EVK-PRO3 provides a ready, future-proof and flexible environment for a quick and easy development of applications with Telit GE863-Pro3, revolutionary GSM/GPRS engine including ARM9 processor core, and in this way dramatically reducing time-to-market.
The kit is formed by a motherboard, on top of which an interface (adapter board) with the GE863-PRO3 module is plugged in. This concept allows using a unique motherboard compatible for both GE863-PRO3 with Linux or without OS, and can also be applied for future product variants.
On the motherboard are placed several interfaces, such as 4 x rS232, 2 host USB 2.0 and 1 device USB 2.0, Ethernet, SD/MMC, ISo 7816, as well as reset and oN keys for both GSM/GPRS and ARM part, which represent a reference design for this peripheral circuitry of the module. The ArM core and the GSM/GPrS engine can establish connection on the adapter board and both sides of the communication can be monitored on the RS232 ports.
Adapter boards convert the connection technology of the module (BGA solder) into a PTH pin connector. The part of the basic interfaces is served by the mother-board, whereas specific interfaces according to the type of the module like antenna, General Purpose I/O (GPIO), SIM connector, ARM JTAG etc. are available on the adapter board to connect to the user’s application, extension boards or other development tools or measurement equipment.
The Telit EVK-PRO3 is a tool for:
- Developing applications: based on GE863-Pro3
by means of AT commands through the serial ports
- Easy programming and updating
- Debugging Telit-module-based applications
- Implementing simple applications
(stand alone function) by executing a script over a Python interpreter (only GE863-Pro3 with Linux oS) or in C/C++ without any external microprocessor
RS-232
- The communication between the
application and the GE863-Pro3 is achieved by connecting the Asynchronous Serial Interfaces (ASC0 and ASC1), through a double stacked standard DB9 connector, that provides 4 serial communication paths (rS232 protocol, up to 115 Kbit/sec). The communication between the external application and the ArM core is achieved through a double stacked standard DB9 connector or USB Device.
Power supply inputs
- The EVK-Pro3 provides following power
supply inputs which allow using it in the different environment: 8 to 40 Volt supply
|
General purpose Inputs / Outputs
- With the EVK-Pro3, all general purpose
inputs/outputs are made accessible on the adapter boards by a respective number of pins on the PTH-type connector. This allows the applicators to build their own interface boards which fit best their various requirements, e.g. with custom connectors, cables, relays, LEDs, etc.
